Graphic Palooza

A project on Adobe After Effects in which I was supposed to import at least three images (preferably .png files with transparent backgrounds) and then construct a 5-10 second animation by using the basic tools such as Position, Rotation, and Scale in the software itself. In addition, I used Shape Layers to create a repeating Poké Ball background for my project. The images I decided to select are related to one of the most popular and successful video game franchises in the making, Pokémon.

Melty Text

An assignment on Adobe After Effects in which I was supposed to make the text melt by using the Gaussian Blur and Level effects, in addition to following along with the Ben Marriot Liquid Text tutorial on Youtube. Furthermore, I can use any word and font to my discretion, but if there are more letters in a word, the more layers I will need to manage. The word I chose to make the melty text refers to a cute and newer enemy (preferably an obstacle) that are known as Bloomps. These balloon-like creatures are from the acclaimed 2D family-friendly platformer, Super Mario Bros Wonder. To make the project look even more exciting, I chose to add three images of Bloomp (2 purple & 1 green) and animate the Position property across the screen while the text begins to melt.

DUIK Angela – Walk Cycle

Similar to the Richard Williams Walk Cycle (the most popular masterpiece from the author who invented The Animator’s Survival Kit and director of the acclaimed film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit), this variation of the walk cycle contains the same animation principles, but was done by Angela DUIK with some slight differences. In this Adobe After Effects project, I was assigned to construct a walk cycle animation by taking the DUIK Rig and then applying it to cautiously animate the assembled parts of the model. This project in particular can take a serious amount of effort and time when it comes to creating a magnificient walk cycle.

Match Cut

An assignment on Adobe After Effects in which I was tasked to come up with two objects that have appendages and create an animation that follows these principles: Anticipation, Action, Overshoot, and Reaction. The first object starts with a sword that is being thrown at the near end of the screen, and then it transitions into a pencil that creates a stroke with the tip of the led, leading it back to the same position of the sword.

Match Cut – Super Mario Edition

This is another attempt of the Match Cut assignment, but this time, I went above and beyond by adding music and sound effects that correlate to the Super Mario franchise. I also managed to add Squash and Stretch on 8-bit Mario as it makes contact with the ground, a game over screen with a transition that closely fits with one of the Donkey Kong Country titles, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. Furthermore, I included a black screen with Bowser’s logo on it, depicting the exact moment when Mario’s power level reaches zero from one of the Super Mario 3D platformers, Super Mario 64.

12 Principles of Animation – Motion Graphics Style

This is the final Motion Graphics project, in which I was supposed to choose four of the twelve animation principles of my choice and apply them into Adobe After Effects. The four principles I selected for this project were Squash and Stretch, Ease, Arcs, and Anticipation. In addition, I added music that relate to Pokémon’s newest anime, Pokémon Horizons: The Series.
