Graphic Palooza

This assignment introduced the fundamentals of motion graphics through a fast-paced sequence of animated visual elements. Using shape layers, typography, and basic transitions, I explored timing, spacing, and composition to create an energetic montage. The project focused on developing a strong sense of visual rhythm and learning how to organize multiple graphic elements cohesively within a short animation.

Melty Text

In this project, I created a stylized text animation that simulates a melting effect. By combining keyframe animation, distortion tools, and masking techniques in Adobe After Effects, I developed an organic transformation of typography. The assignment emphasized experimentation with effects, smooth transitions, and enhancing visual storytelling through dynamic text design.

DUIK Angela – Walk Cycle

In this project, I created a stylized text animation that simulates a melting effect. By combining keyframe animation, distortion tools, and masking techniques in Adobe After Effects, I developed an organic transformation of typography. The assignment emphasized experimentation with effects, smooth transitions, and enhancing visual storytelling through dynamic text design.

Match Cut

The Match Cut project explored seamless visual transitions between scenes by matching shapes, motion, or composition. I designed and animated sequences where one object or scene transforms fluidly into another, maintaining continuity and flow. This assignment enhanced my skills in visual storytelling, editing, and precision timing, emphasizing how motion can guide the viewer’s eye across transitions.

Match Cut – Super Mario Edition

This is another attempt of the Match Cut assignment, but this time, I went above and beyond by adding music and sound effects that correlate to the Super Mario franchise. I also managed to add Squash and Stretch on 8-bit Mario as it makes contact with the ground, a game over screen with a transition that closely fits with one of the Donkey Kong Country titles, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. Furthermore, I included a black screen with Bowser’s logo on it, depicting the exact moment when Mario’s power level reaches zero from one of the Super Mario 3D platformers, Super Mario 64.

Final Project: 12 Principles of Animation (Motion Graphics Style)

For the final project, I applied the 12 Principles of Animation to a motion graphics context. Each principle—such as squash and stretch, anticipation, timing, and easing—was demonstrated through stylized graphic elements rather than traditional character animation. This project brought together all the skills developed throughout the course, including animation techniques, composition, and creative direction, resulting in a polished and cohesive motion graphics piece.
